Ritual of Raven is a cosy, story-driven farming and life-simulation game developed by Spellgarden Games and published by Team17. Released on 7 August 2025, it puts you in the role of a witch’s apprentice who arrives in a strange land through an unstable portal.

You meet Sage, a local witch, and help her search for her missing familiar while working to stabilise the portals connecting different worlds. Along the way, you gather ingredients, perform rituals, befriend the local community and develop a magical garden.

Its most unusual feature is that you don’t do the farming yourself. Instead, you enchant magical constructs to plant, water and harvest your crops, turning gardening into a system of magical automation.

Key Features

Automate your magical garden

Rather than carrying out every farming task manually, Ritual of Raven is a cosy sim game in which you collect and enchant Arcana Constructs. These magical helpers can plough soil, sow seeds, water crops and harvest your plants.

You can collect up to 22 different constructs and use a deck of cards to determine their behaviour. Planning how your magical helpers work together is a key part of the gameplay.

Learn witchcraft and perform rituals

Your journey involves gathering ingredients, studying magical knowledge and performing rituals to stabilise the unstable portals. You gradually fill your Book of Shadows as you learn more about the world’s magic and discover the people responsible for maintaining the portals.

Explore the mystery of the portals

The portals were created by an ambitious magical experiment that went wrong. Their instability has caused people from other worlds to arrive unexpectedly, while those involved in the original ritual have lost something precious to them. Helping Sage search for her missing familiar, Flufferstoop, draws you further into this mystery.

Befriend a quirky community

Meet a cast of unusual characters, learn their personal stories and help them build closer relationships with one another. You can also trade with them for valuable ingredients. The emphasis is on getting to know the community rather than fighting enemies or competing against a clock.

Work with the phases of the moon

Moon phases affect your harvests, and you can use lunar power to charge crystals. The moon shrine allows you to control the phases to suit your needs, adding another layer of planning to your magical garden.

Decorate your surroundings

You can purchase unusual furniture and decorate your farm and village. Collecting crystals, filling the library and retrieving artefacts from portals provide further goals beyond gardening. The result is a life sim that combines automation, collecting, community and magical problem-solving.

Final Thoughts

Ritual of Raven is a cosy sim game that puts a clever spin on farming simulation by making automation its central mechanic. Instead of simply growing crops yourself, you collect magical helpers and use cards to direct their behaviour.

That gives the gardening system a more strategic feel, while the rituals, portal mystery and relationships provide a story to follow. The moon phases and crystal collection add further layers for players who enjoy gradually completing systems and collections.

If you like witch-themed games and cosy routines but want something more unusual than a conventional farming sim, Ritual of Raven is well worth a look.

A little housekeeping: this site is just for fun and games (literally). No payment, no sponsorships, no affiliate links (though you might spot a Steam link, purely because I’m helpful like that). Sometimes I am gifted a game, demo, or playtest spot, and I’ll always flag it when that’s the case. But gifted or not, I only write about games I genuinely enjoyed. If it’s not for me, it just quietly doesn’t get a post. No negativity here, only good vibes and cosy recommendations. One last thing: prices, features, and availability can shift after I post, so it’s always worth to double-check before you buy.
