You explore a large world inhabited by creatures called Pals. They can become companions in combat, help you gather resources and work around your base, or be bred to produce new combinations of traits and abilities. There are now more than 200 Pals to discover, including powerful Boss Pals.
You choose the options. Play as a cute and cosy game or ramp-up the survival side which makes it considerably more demanding than a conventional creature-collecting game. Food, hostile wildlife, environmental hazards, enemies and the need to develop increasingly sophisticated equipment all play a part either gently or frantically depending on your play style.

Capture and train Pals
The unbelievably cute Pals are central to almost every part of the game.
You can weaken and capture wild Pals using Pal Spheres, then add them to your party or assign them to work at your base. Different Pals have different abilities and work suitability, while individuals of the same species can have different characteristics.
Pals can also be bred, allowing you to combine desirable characteristics and create stronger or more specialised creatures.
Explore a large open world
The Palpagos Islands contain a variety of environments to explore, with Pals, resources, dungeons and other encounters distributed throughout the world.
Some Pals can be used as mounts, allowing you to travel across land, water and through the air. This makes choosing which Pals to take with you part of exploration as well as combat.
Build and develop your base
You can construct bases and use your Pals to gather materials, produce goods, grow crops and generate electricity.
As your technology advances, the simple survival camp can develop into a much more automated operation. Pals can be assigned different jobs according to their abilities, creating production chains that reduce the amount of manual work required.
Farm and produce resources
Farming is integrated into the wider survival system rather than being the entire focus of the game.
Different Pals can plant, water and harvest crops, while others can provide fire, electricity, mining and other forms of production.
Combat
How much combat you want is up to you in options and gameplay. Palworld combines creature-based combat with conventional weapons.
You can fight alongside your Pals while also using weapons ranging from bows and spears to firearms and rocket launchers. Different Pals have different attributes and abilities, so building a suitable team matters when facing tougher opponents.
There are also dungeons, powerful Boss Pals and other challenging encounters if you want them.
Multiplayer
Palworld supports both cooperative and competitive multiplayer.
Up to four players can play together in online co-op, while dedicated servers can support substantially larger groups. Players can cooperate on exploration and base building, trade Pals and battle each other.

The Pals are more than collectible creatures. Their individual abilities determine what they can contribute to your base, which makes collecting and breeding directly relevant to progression.
It is also considerably less gentle than the colourful presentation might suggest. Survival mechanics, hostile creatures, firearms and the game’s deliberately dark humour make Palworld very different from a conventional cosy creature-collecting game.
For players who enjoy creature collecting but want considerably more freedom, combat, building and survival mechanics, Palworld offers a broad sandbox where you can decide which aspects to emphasise.
