What is Nimbit Frontier?
Nimbit Frontier is a cosy creature-collecting life sim game with a cute hand-drawn sci-fi setting. It features farming, town life and roguelite dungeon exploration. You raise small creatures called Nimbits, create habitats for them and explore the shifting Underwild to discover new species and collect genetic fragments. It entered Early Access on PC via Steam on 17 August 2026.
The interesting difference is that collecting isn’t simply about building a permanent collection. You raise Nimbits, develop their traits through the habitats you create, and can eventually release them into sanctuaries to support conservation and unlock changes in the wider world.

Raise and care for Nimbits
Nimbits have individual traits and characteristics that are influenced by their environment. You can hatch them from genetic fragments and build habitats using food, shelter, foliage and enrichment to affect their development.
Explore the Underwild
The Underwild is a shifting dungeon environment rather than a conventional open world. Its hazards and encounters change between dives, with different conditions affecting which creatures and discoveries you can find.
Combat involves weakening Mimocks and tethering them to obtain genetic fragments that can be used to develop new Nimbit species.
Build your own habitats
Habitat design is more than decoration. The environment you create affects the mood, traits and growth of your Nimbits, giving the creature-care system considerably more purpose than simply feeding and collecting animals.
Conservation rather than collecting everything
One of the game’s more unusual ideas is that releasing Nimbits is part of the progression system. You can send mature creatures to distant sanctuaries, receiving rewards and contributing to longer-term changes in the world.
Build a life in Star’s End
Outside the Underwild, Star’s End provides the life-sim side of the game. You can upgrade and decorate your home, fish, forage, develop relationships with townsfolk and take part in the Nimbit League.
Choose your League discipline
You can specialise in one of three disciplines, shaping how you approach progression and unlocking different rewards, tools and facilities as you advance through the League.

Exploration provides genetic fragments, those fragments create Nimbits, habitat design affects their development, and releasing them supports the wider world. Meanwhile, the town and life-sim systems provide a quieter counterpoint to the dungeon exploration.
The combination of cosy creature care and roguelite exploration is its strongest point. It gives you the option to spend time carefully looking after your Nimbits or head into the Underwild for something more active.
Because it is still in Early Access, the final depth and scope of the game are not yet established. The current version is substantial but the developers have already outlined significant additional content for 1.0.
